Leaving Addictions

Whoever thinks about their over-indulgences as addictions? The enjoyable things that you do each day to help you relax are not always healthy. These habits can feel like moments of fun, normal things people do, or any other description that leaves out the addiction word. Anyone can become an addict of something – but only some people are able to leave their addictions before it’s too late. Leaving an addiction means not having a lifestyle dependency to function on the over consumption of alcohol, drugs, gambling, food, sex, gossiping, or all the other things people do to “relax.” These over-indulgences really don’t allow people to relax if these things are needed in order to make a person feel “relaxed.” Repeatedly over-indulging in something may require you to seek assistance to leave your “addiction.” This addiction you have is really a symptom of a bigger problem that you have with yourself. Getting therapy can help you learn about the internal problem that you have and allow you to learn ways to resolve your internal problem. Coming to terms with the problem(s) you have with yourself can help the focus shift from using your addiction to relax, to truly being able to take a part in positive behaviors of relaxation.
